ABOUT CHEROKEE METROPOLITAN DISTRICT
Cherokee Metropolitan District provides water, wastewater collection services, parks, street lights, open spaces, and even a golf course. For us, it’s more than that. Cherokee Metro District is our community. We are not only customers or ratepayers; we are neighbors.
SIGNIFICANT CHANGES IN THE PAST YEAR
The Cherokee Metro Election is important to everyone. The recall brought seismic change to the operation, including new management, a new CFO, and a new parks department. Things are starting to happen. The PFAS facility is in the works (it will be a multi year project), and studies are underway for water quality treatment. A Citizens' Park Committee has been established and is headed by citizens.
We are beginning to get the services we pay for! The Citizens’ Park Committee has been established. The public is treated with respect when attending board meetings. Board meetings are now on ZOOM, so we can easily watch the actions taken by the board.
All of these things are exciting, but could easily be undone. Former board members are running for the board. One former board member, who is running again, voted to abandon our parks. He wanted to install a $70K sign the month after they voted to raise rates. There is no law against a defeated or recalled board member from running again. If they win, all of our progress will be undone.
IT IS IMPORTANT TO ELECT BOARD MEMBERS WHO REPRESENT US!
This all begins and is driven by a competent and engaged Board of Directors elected by and representing the ratepayers and the citizens. They represent us! Cherokee Metropolitan District belongs to us. This is about our homes and our neighbors.
On Tuesday, May 6, 2025, vote for:
Kim Wilson, Bonnie Hunter, Jeff Bandy, Dan Wall, and Arthur B. Sintas.
Paid for by the Citizens for CMD Improvement, Michelle Marie Kinney, registered agent.
