Art is a former employee of the Cherokee Metro District who started with the District when the office was located on Western Dr. At that time the Cimarron Hills Volunteer Fire Station was located on a dead-end street (Peterson Rd).
During his tenure, the Water District grew from 2500 to over 7500 service taps. He has seen the changes the District has gone through, from a modest Water and Sanitation District employing only 8 people, to a Metropolitan District that includes Parks, a Golf course, and street lights, employing over 50 people.
Art has regularly attended over 30 years of Cherokee Board meetings, which is surely
the record for most Cherokee Board meetings attended.
There is no one who knows the history of the District more than Art, which is an immense benefit to the board and its decisions.
Art understands the District’s needs, including the aging, critical infrastructure, water rights, water quality, the importance of meeting the water quality standards as set by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), and future growth of the District.
Art is currently retired so he does have the time needed to dedicate to this position.
